NAWT Bedfordshire is now open!
Back in 2022, we set out on a mission to rebuild our NAWT Bedfordshire centre as the facilities were crumbling around us, no longer fit for purpose.
Thanks to the help and support of the public, our funders, the local community, and businesses, we were able to raise enough funds to help towards installing new animal accommodation and staff facilities.
On the 2nd of September 2023, we were finally able to open our doors to people and paws and welcomed guests to our grand re-opening. As the sun shone down on our newly refurbished buildings, Libby Clegg MBE delightfully cut the ribbon and declared our centre OPEN!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their participation in making this happen. This includes everyone who has donated, all our volunteers and staff for their hard work, and our supporters who have been by our side helping in any way they can.
Although the centre is now open, there is still lots to do as we continue to work on finalising the finishing touches. As the dogs and cats in our care are now thriving in their new kennels and catteries, we now move our attention onto the next steps and more details will be revealed very soon.
Please keep your eyes peeled for more fundraising activities coming up, as we need your help to make sure the centre is the best it can be for pets in need. In the meantime, if you would like to donate or help towards our centre, then please see more details below.
Thank you.
How can you be a part of it?
Purchase a commemorative brick
Be a permanent part of the centre's history with a brick of your own that will be on display at our rehoming centre for the lifetime of the buildings.
Your brick will be engraved with a message of your choosing, which might be a tribute to a loved one, a message of hope to the pets who will reside there, or a celebration of your own beloved pet.
Fundraise
We have a Just Giving Page set up to raise funds for our NAWT Bedfordshire centre, which allows supporters to start fundraising on our behalf.
Our first fundraiser raised a huge £1,085 by ‘braving the shave’ and asking her friends and family to sponsor her. Fundraising is a great way to take on something fun, all whilst raising vital funds for our centre.
For fundraising ideas make sure to head over to our fundraising page, where you will also find our Fundraising Support Pack. If you have any questions, please contact fundraising@nawt.org.uk, we will be happy to help and give support!
Help spread the word
Please keep an eye out for more campaigns and fundraising activities coming up and help us spread the word far and wide. Make sure to follow our Facebook and Instagram for any updates and share our posts with friends and family.
“It wasn’t great for the cats before. For example, the pens were facing one another, which can be very stressful if a nervous one comes in and is confronted by the sight of other felines. I remember one cat called Jet. He was a feral and spent a lot of his time hissing and growling. He really needed more space to help him adapt. It’ll be so much better for cats like Jet in the new buildings.”
"The most important thing for the dogs is they are going to have an indoor area for sleeping and eating and they are going to also have access to an outside space. Sometimes, even if it’s raining and cold, a dog will prefer to be outside in the fresh air."
