Fur-ever homes on PAWS?

Pawfectly loveable pooches still waiting for a family

These gorgeous dogs have been waiting longer than most for a family or a person to call their own, and here at NAWT, we simply don’t understand why. It’s as if someone has hit the pause button on their search for forever homes.

We’re launching this campaign to highlight all the reasons these beautiful pooches will each make someone a wonderful best friend, in the hope we can fast forward the rest of their journey towards a loving home.

Please share the campaign far and wide, tell all your friends and associates about these lovely pups waiting for homes, and help us make sure they are seen by as many potential new families as possible – their forever homes are out there somewhere!

Please support our mission to get these gorgeous doggos home; let’s make 2024 their year!

Paddy – waiting since 22nd June 2021

Older gentleman Paddy might be 13 years old but he’s not showing signs of slowing down any time soon, so don’t let his age fool you. Paddy is intelligent and energetic and will bring a lucky person plenty of joy as they spend time learning new tricks together.

Like most of us who have reached a certain age, Paddy knows what he likes and what he doesn’t like, and he’s not afraid to make his preferences known!

Paddy’s list of loves:

  • - One-to-one interaction with someone who is completely devoted to him
  • - Learning and showing off new tricks
  • - Fun games with yummy food rewards
  • - A quiet place to enjoy ‘me time’ when everyone is annoying him (hey, we’ve all been there, right?)
  • - Happily digging in the sand and splashing in the water on trips to the beach
  • - A good night’s sleep

Paddy’s list of dislikes:

  • - Sharing! Well, he hasn’t waited all this time to have to share his special person, after all…
  • - Too much fuss
  • - People touching his precious things

Sure, Paddy is more complicated than some, but if you’re willing to put in the time and the patience required to win his trust, you’ll be rewarded with a curly haired best bud who is always game for an outdoorsy adventure and will ensure your life is never boring!

Harley – waiting since 24th April 2022

Handsome boy Harley truly has been unlucky in love. His quest for a new home began in our Bedfordshire centre, where his ruggedly attractive looks earned him a spot of modelling as the face of the campaign to redevelop the centre.

Despite this brush with fame, and the adoration of everyone he met, nobody came forward to offer Harley his forever home. Eventually, once all avenues to find Harley a home in the Beds area were exhausted, we decided to move him to the Berkshire centre for a fresh chance in a new county. However, our hopes for a new tranche of applications for Harley were soon dashed, when again he experienced very little interest from potential new owners.

A friendly, but perhaps overenthusiastic, bundle of love, Harley adores people and his fellow dogs. A bit like an overgrown puppy who is desperate to show you all the love he can, Harley sometimes forgets how big he is and needs a few gentle reminders on how to greet his friends nicely.

Because of his size (a giant fun-loving goofball Rottweiler cross, in technical terms) Harley won’t be the dog for everyone. But he doesn’t need everyone, he just needs his one special person or family – someone who will love him as much as he is guaranteed to love you, and who can manage a big, bouncy bundle of joy. One thing is for sure – a life with Harley will never be short of love, fun or cuddles!

Trixie – waiting since 7th December 2023

Playful, sociable and friendly, our beautiful girl Trixie is looking for someone to share her favourite squeaky toys with.

Despite only being the young age of 5, Trixie is in her retirement as an ex-racing greyhound. This has left her with a penchant for chasing small furry creatures, which means she’s not favoured by cats or small dogs and is unlikely to be welcomed by them as a house guest. However, she plays very nicely with larger dogs similar in size to her, in fact she loves nothing more than socialising with her pals at the centre.

With her gentle soul, beautiful face and loveable nature, we can’t believe Trixie has been waiting so long for a home to call her own. Who could turn away from those puppy dog eyes? Someone out there must have a Trixie-sized spot on their couch. Come along and meet her, we guarantee she’ll steal your heart in no time.

Cindy – waiting since 7th December 2023

Gentle girl Cindy is a quiet greyhound, who is very shy and nervous in new situations. When she arrived in our care, she didn’t know how to play, she was very unsure of herself, and the rescue centre environment frightened her.

Despite all of the above, Cindy loves other dogs and has gained so much confidence from time spent with two greyhound buddies in her foster home. She has gradually learnt how to play and realised that she actually quite enjoys it – almost as much as a good snooze!

If you have a friendly and patient pooch looking for a faithful companion to share their love for life and people with, then Cindy might be just the pal they’ve been searching for. Give us a call and let’s organise their meet-cute at the centre, so we can sit back and enjoy watching a glorious friendship blossom.
