Meet Malu!

Hi, I’m Malu, a 2 year old girl looking for a new home after coming to the centre as an unclaimed stray. As you can see, I’m a big beautiful girl so I’m looking for an owner who has experience with large breed dogs.

I’m a sweet girl who loves spending time with people. I get so excited when I see people coming up to my kennel and I’ll jump up to say hello and tell you how happy I am to see you, although people do keep telling me it would be more polite if I kept my paws on the ground.. I’m still working on that!

I’m a bit of an overgrown puppy at heart, probably because I haven’t had much of the early training and socialisation that dogs need, so my new owners will need to dedicate a lot of time to helping me learn the best ways to behave. Luckily for you, I’m an extremely clever girl and I love doing reward based training, so we should have lots of fun together while I learn. I recently learnt how to give paw and I love how everyone calls me a good girl whenever I show them! Being this intelligent does mean I can get bored easily, so you will also need to make sure you give me a lot of enrichment activities to keep my mind active. I do have a tendency to resource guard so my new owner will need to have experience with this behaviour too.

I’m looking for a home with adults and teenagers only where I can be the only pet and have access to a big secure garden. I have made some doggy friends when I’ve been out on walks, but I would prefer not to live with another dog so I can relax in my own space. I get quite worried and bored when I’m left alone, so someone in my family will need to be home with me most of the day.
