Meet Tucker!

Hello, I'm Tucker, an 8 month old Dutch Herder x Shepherd, and I'm looking for a home with an experienced dog owner who will be my friend forever.

I'm a sweet, affectionate boy, I make friends with people quite quickly and I love a cuddle and a belly rub. If you stretch your legs out I will happily lie across them, it doesn't matter how many times you tell me I'm too big to be a lap dog, I'm still going to want to snuggle! I'm a big fan of toys, especially the ones I can tug and shake, my kennel is full of them, if you come to meet me I'll show you all of my favourites. I love being able to run around chasing my toys. I'm a really clever boy and my brain is always working, I pay close attention to everything going on around me. This is great because it means I am really receptive to my training, but it does mean I get bored quite easily and I can also get anxious when I'm trying to make sense of all the different sights and sounds around me, so I rely on my humans to help me feel grounded and secure when everything gets a bit overwhelming.

Not much is known about my past, as I arrived at NAWT as a stray, but I definitely don't have a lot of worldly experience, so I'm looking for an owner who will teach me all there is to know about life. The team here have started some basic training with me and I am doing really well, but I will need to continue training once I am home. I particularly need support with connection training and dog socialisation, but I promise if you put the time in to help me now, I will be the best friend you could ever ask for, for many years to come!

I'm looking for a home where my humans will be home with me all of the time, I hate being alone. It's also important I have access to a garden so I can have plenty of room for zoomies and play. It's best I am the only pet in the home while I'm still learning how to make friends with other dogs and it would also be best for me to live with older children/teenagers who are able to understand my needs so that the whole family can support my training. I'm looking for an owner who is very experienced with training dogs, particularly Shepherds, as there is so much I need to learn. I'm what some might call a project dog, I need someone who will dedicate a lot of time to helping me and really change my life.
